The group stage of UEFA Euro 2024 is coming to an end as we approach the final set of fixtures before reaching the knockouts. There are still plenty of things to iron out in every single group, and given some of the chaos we’ve seen so far, we’re expecting a few more twists and turns along the way. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the intriguing clash between France and Poland.

Les Bleus fought hard to keep hold of their position as world champions but in Qatar, they wound up falling at the final hurdle. The next step in their journey takes them to the Euros, a competition that hasn’t been great to them in recent years. They still have one of the best squads in world football, though, so you can imagine they’ll be feeling somewhat confident.

France haven’t exactly set the world on fire just yet, opening up their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Austria that could’ve easily gone south for them. Then, against Netherlands, they’ll feel pretty fortunate that they managed a 0-0 draw after a relatively poor display.

For years now, it’s felt as if the Poland national team has been going through a golden generation and a half - or, at least, that’s what we’ve been told. Despite that, they’ve never really been able to live up to their potential on the world stage. The Poles are one of the most interesting countries to watch when firing on all cylinders, but inconsistency is a big issue for them.

Poland have managed to score in both of their Euro 2024 games thus far, but they’ve left those games empty-handed. They lost 2-1 to Netherlands in their opener and then against Austria, they just fell away down the straight, succumbing to a disappointing 3-1 defeat.

The Poles haven’t had a good time of things so far in this tournament and while this may be their last chance, it feels like the French also have something to prove heading into the knockouts. Therefore, when it comes to a prediction for this game, we’re going to shoot for a France win.
