While the majority of top leagues across Europe have come to an end, there are plenty of others across the globe that are continuing to thrive - including the Chinese Super League. There’s so much to get excited about in China’s top tier and in the weeks and months ahead, there’s still a lot of football to be played. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming clash between Qingdao Hainiu and Tianjin Jinmen Tiger.
Qingdao H Form GuideAs was the case for a few other teams last season, Qingdao Hainiu will be feeling pretty grateful that Dalian and Shenzhen played so poorly. While they certainly weren’t the worst of the survivors, they definitely didn’t play to their full potential. After a few months of rest and recuperation, the big hope is that they can come back stronger than ever this time around.
What is there to say about Qingdao’s first half of the season other than, it hasn’t been very good? They’ve only won two games in the league, they’ve scored just eight goals in 13 games, and they are rock bottom of the table. They need to mix things up, and they need to do it fast.
Tianjin Form GuideWhile they may have finished in 8th place last season, no team in the league lost fewer games than Tianjin. Of course, from that stat alone, you’ve probably worked out that they drew a lot of games - 15 of their 30, to be exact. They’ve always been really strong defensively so if they can learn how to really kill teams off, they could be in with a chance of a much, much better season.
The good news? Tianjin are breaking their trend of drawing every other game. The bad news? They’re still a bit inconsistent, even though they are currently unbeaten in four. With five wins, four draws and four losses behind them, they currently occupy 7th position in the league.
Match PredictionSometimes, you just have to throw form out of the window - but in other instances, you have to examine the overall quality of both teams and make a judgement call. In this case, we think it’s the latter instead of the former, which is why we’re going to predict a Tianjin victory.
